Closing Statement:

Overall, voting should be compulsory because each country has to hear everyone's opinion before deciding. What excuse do you have for not voting? Voting doesn't require education because you are only deciding on who is the best fit for the country. If there are many participants and votes then its easier to decide. Also, voting affects everyone so everyone's opinions should be heard for the change to be good.

Yes but, why do you need to be educated to vote?

Are you saying that people without education shouldn't be allowed to vote?

Again, the vote will affect your country which will affect you. No one will put random votes because at the end of the day it will affect you. For example, imagine filling out a survey about changing the cafeteria food. Would you choose random options? No, because it's going to affect you.

Voting will affect you and your country, so you shouldn't not care about who is ruling in your country. The decision will affect you, so you should at least put some effort on the vote.

There is no discrimination in voting. Everyone will have a right to vote for their representative that they like. Our side of the argument states that voting should be a responsibility meaning everyone is obliged to vote.

Argument 2: Voting is usually done when something is going to change or be added in a country. In order for the change to be good for the country, you need everyone’s vote. If people don’t vote, then what’s the point? There are about 20 countries who have compulsory voting and Belgium, one of the 20 countries receives about 95% of participation whilst the United States, which has no compulsory voting reaches 55%. This shows how compulsory voting would increase the participation on each country. Participation is very important when voting because of the more people the better. If only a quarter votes, the results won’t be accurate as in the results will show what the quarter wants but not what the whole country wants. For example, Donald Trump won the American election even though he only convinced ¼ of the American electorate. This happened because of low participation. Imagine if the whole America would have voted, that would have changed the results by a lot. If only people who want Donald Trump vote and the rest who don’t want him don’t vote then Donald Trump will end up winning and he did. So, I encourage compulsory voting so all decisions being made suit everyone in the country.

In countries with compulsory voting, some people are excluded from voting like people with disabilities. Only healthy people above 18 can vote.

Voting doesn't have to be stressful and you can take how much time you need. For example, when you have to answer a survey, do you ever make a mistake? Also, in a vote, there is never a wrong answer it's your opinion.

Opening Statement:

Voting should be a responsibility because voting is about getting everyone's vote. If people don't vote then they might not get their chosen option. However, if you do vote you might get your chosen option. If the vote doesn't include everyone's opinion then the results won't be accurate. For a change to occur it should suit everyone in the country and if only half of the population vote then the change won't be good for the country. If there aren't enough participants/votes then its harder to decide on the best option.
