A small hit on the hand would have had no affect on the students, it would only be a punishment if the students receives pain through the punishment. If that happens, then students might fight back
Corporal punishments are also seen as a form of child abuse
Or if a student gets angry with the punishments they received, they might start fight with the teacher
Researches has shown that children who have received corporal punishments are more likely to experience depression, low self esteem and even lead to suicide
Corporal punishments can have both physical and emotional impact to a student
The National Women's Law Center states that harsh physical punishments does not help the education of students
